Bruins reveal new jersey numbers for Lindholm, other offseason additions originally appeared in NBC Sports Boston
A new season calls for new numbers.
The Boston Bruins on Friday morning announced the new shirt numbers for most of their off-season additions. We already knew that defender Nikita Zadorov would wear number 91. He prefers number 16, but that number was retired in Boston by B legend Rick Middleton.
Zadorov was one of two eye-catching additions to the Bruins made in NHL free agency earlier this month. The other great pickup it was top six center Elias Lindholm. The Swedish forward will wear number 28 with the B’s. He wore that number in his final season with the Carolina Hurricanes and throughout his entire five-season tenure with the Calgary Flames.
Derek Forbort, who signed with the Vancouver Canucks in free agency, has worn No. 28 with the B’s the past three seasons.
The Bruins acquired goaltender Joonas Korpisalo in commerce Linus Ullmark ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft in June. He will wear number 70 next season. He wore this number throughout his professional career. Korpisalo will also be the fourth goaltender to wear number 70 for the Bruins, joining Matt DelGuidice (1991), Tim Thomas (2003) and Malcolm Subban (2015-17).
