Former Vegas Golden Knights winger Tomas Jurco will remain in Europe despite attracting interest from NHL teams.

The 31-year-old played just eight games with the Golden Knights during the 2020-21 season before being moved to the KHL. He also spent time with the Henderson Silver Knights scoring four goals and 11 points in 22 AHL games.

Jurco has played in the KHL since 2021, except for 17 games last season in the NL with HC Davos, Switzerland’s top professional league. His last game for the team was the Spengler Cup final on 31 December, in which Davos defeated Czech club Dinamo Pardubice 5–3. However, this was overshadowed by an incident in the first period of that game, in which Jurco was physically tackled on the bench by Davos coach Josh Holden; an incident captured on live television.

Jurco played with KHL team Avangard Omsk in the 2023-24 season, but will return to Kunlun Red Star, a Chinese club he played for during the 2022-23 season.

The 6’2 Slovak played in the youth leagues of the NHL, AHL, QMJHL, KHL, NL and the Slovak Extraliga, while representing Slovakia at the World Juniors, World Championships and Olympics. He won an Olympic bronze medal, a Memorial Cup, two Calder Cups and two QMJHL championships.

Accumulating 221 games of NHL experience between the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers and Golden Knights, the veteran winger will likely play the remainder of his hockey career in Europe.
