Sabers to host Prospects challenge in September

The Buffalo Sabers have hosted a prospect tournament at LECOM Harborcenter since 2015, and on Tuesday the club announced the 2024 Prospects Challenge will take place Sept. 13-16, which will include youth from the Sabers and five other NHL clubs.

Prospects from the Boston Bruins, Pittsburgh Penguins, Columbus Blue Jackets, Ottawa Senators and New Jersey Devils will participate in a round-robin tournament, with each club playing three times. The Sabers will also host a Fan Fest on Saturday, September 14, where they will have the opportunity to experience unique experiences, special programming and live music throughout the day, while interacting with current Sabers players and alumni who will be in attendance. for photo opportunities and autograph sessions.

New Jersey Devils vs. Ottawa Senators, 3:30 p.m.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Buffalo Sabers, 7 p.m.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Ottawa Senators, 12 p.m.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Boston Bruins, 3:30 p.m.

New Jersey Devils vs. Buffalo Sabers, 7 p.m.

Monday, September 16

Boston Bruins vs. New Jersey Devils, 10 a.m.

Ottawa Senators vs. Columbus Blue Jackets, 1:30 p.m.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Buffalo Sabers, 5 p.m.

While rosters won’t be confirmed until early September, they will likely include 2024 first-rounders Carter Yakemchuk (Ottawa), Cayden Lindstrom (Columbus), Dean Letourneau (Boston) and the Sabres’ top pick Konsta Helenius. Buffalo’s 2022 top pick, Noah Ostlund, will also likely participate in Buffalo, but it is unknown whether other candidates with experience in the American Hockey League (Jiri Kulich, Isak Rosen, Ryan Johnson) will participate.
