William Nylander is back on the ice.
The Toronto Maple Leafs star, who signed an eight-year, $92 million contract extension in January that begins with the 2024-25 season, has been sharing glimpses of his off-season activities with fans on Instagram throughout summer, offering a mix of relaxation and preparation.
Previously, Nylander was seen at the prestigious Wimbledon tournament with fellow Swedish tennis player and junior William Rejchtman Vinciguerra, vacationing in a tropical destination, relaxing with their dogs and working out with his brother, Alex, who recently joined the AHL’s Toronto Marlies. Now, Nylander has resumed training in his home country of Sweden.
Captured on Instagram by ‘sports hearts’ On Wednesday, at a local summer sports camp based in Stockholm, Sweden, Nylander was seen participating in a training session on the ice – seen covering a goal with his glove at the end of a practice session.

But it wasn’t all work and no play for the Swedish star. Nylander took time to chat and take photos with the campers after his on-ice workout. He was one of the few NHL players to attend the event along with New Jersey Devils forward Alexander Holtz and Former Leafs defenseman Rasmus Sandinto the delight of young fans.

According to the camp website, the program offers “intensive one-on-one training sessions with experienced instructors.” The camp, now in its tenth year, has been a staple in Stockholm since 2012. It offers a wide range of activities, including hockey, basketball, table tennis, chess, dancing, football and handball, among others. The camp’s Instagram bio describes it as “all of Sweden’s sports camp in Stockholm with multiple sports, famous profiles and a large activity center.”
The camp is well-regarded, attracting notable athletes and leaders with Swedish connections. For example, Mikael Kempe, father of Los Angeles Kings forward Adrian Kempe, served as the ‘top instructor’ in 2023.
It’s great to see Nylander interacting with the next generation of athletes.
Coming off the best season of his career with 40 goals and 58 assists, almost reaching the 100-point mark, the Leafs wasted no time in securing him for the long term. His new contract, which includes a complete no-movement clause, reflects the organization’s confidence in his ability to continue producing at an elite level for years to come. As training camp approaches, Nylander appears determined to continue his impressive 2023-24 campaign.
