Paul Cotter was the first player the Golden Knights did this with, but Connelly decided to go the NCAA route.
The Golden Knights used their 19th overall selection in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft to select the talented and offensively dynamic winger.
At just 18 years old, Connelly dominated the USHL with the Tri-City Storm and was a force on Team USA in the U18s. Heading into Providence, Connelly talked about using his time with them to add size and round out his game.

Playing in college will allow Connelly to focus on her NCAA career and work toward making the U.S. World Junior Team. Both he and the Golden Knights need to be patient with his development and allow him to enter the NHL as prepared as possible.
