Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defenseman Dmitri Samorukov has signed a three-year contract with CSKA Moskva, it was reported on Thursday.
Samorukov, a native of Volgograd, Russia, spent the 2023-24 season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 64 regular season games.
Drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the third round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Samorukov has appeared in three career NHL games but has lost his way. Since 2019, Samorukov has also played in 236 career regular-season AHL games, recording 65 points.
With Samorukov’s return to Russia, this will be his second time at CSKA Moskva, having played 48 matches for the team in 2020-21. Although he is unreliable going forward, he can still contribute when needed and will be difficult to play against.
