Rotherham v Birmingham clash SUSPENDED and players removed from the field due to medical emergency in the crowd

Saturday’s championship game between Rotherham and Birmingham has been suspended due to a medical emergency in the crowd.

The bottom of the table clash saw Brum travel to already relegated Rotherham looking to secure their own safety in the second tier.

But just nine minutes later, with the game tied at 0-0, the referee stopped proceedings after being rescued following an incident in the home stands.

Reports say a fan suffered a medical emergency in the crowd.

And the referee suspended the game while doctors rushed to help the injured fan.

After several minutes, players from both sides left the field as the emergency in the stands continued.

Rotherham tweeted: “A temporary pause in play for what appears to be a medical emergency in the crowd.”

Another message added: “Players from both sides have been taken to the changing rooms while medical teams respond to the emergency.

“Our best wishes to the person involved.”

Birmingham also tweeted: “We will have a short break in play here due to a fan medical emergency. We send our best wishes to those involved.”
