Four goals and a red card! Chaos ensues over Miami League Cup tie

Chaos is reigning supreme in Fort Lauderdale tonight as the uninterrupted first half of Inter Miami’s round of 16 clash with Toronto saw four goals and a red card.

The hosts took the lead in the blink of an eye thanks to Matías Rojas, who impressed throughout the tournament, and got his name back on the scoresheet within the first three minutes.

A few minutes later, Diego Gómez, who has just returned from Olympic duties with Paraguay, struck the bottom corner from the edge of the box to show why he is probably on his way to Brighton in the Premier League and extend Miami’s lead. .

The action wouldn’t stop there, however, and Toronto showed that it won’t go away without a fight. After a silly defensive error in the Miami area, Lorenzo Insigne halved the lead with a penalty kick.

Even so, Miami regained the lead minutes later thanks to Luis Suárez’s audacious pass over Sean Johnson in the Toronto goal, and Messi loved it from the sidelines.

But just when it looked like it wouldn’t be Toronto’s night, they received yet another gift in the form of a defensive howl when new signing David Martínez tackled a Toronto attacker from behind, only to be promptly sent off following a VAR review.

Four goals and a red card in just 25 minutes. What more could we ask for and what’s next!? Already a Leagues Cup classic.
