Middlesbrough have signed Micah Hamilton on a four-year deal from Premier League champions Manchester City.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder joins Michael Carrick’s squad for the start of the Championship season.

Hamilton was in City’s academy and played three times for the first team, scoring in a Champions League game against Red Star Belgrade in December.

“Micah is an exciting young player who we are looking forward to working with,” said Carrick club website.

Hamilton was a regular in City’s Under-21 squad before Pep Guardiola selected him for the Champions League group stage game in Belgrade last December.

He scored the first goal in the 19th minute in a 3-2 victory, before making two more substitute appearances in the FA Cup and another in Europe.

Hamilton also came on as a substitute in three of City’s friendlies on their recent tour of the United States, but has now arrived at the Riverside.

He is Carrick’s fourth signing of the summer, following Luke Ayling, Aidan Morris and Delano Burgzorg.

Middlesbrough begin their Championship campaign at home to Swansea City on Saturday (12:30pm BST).
