United target near West Ham

Jean-Clair Todibo is expected to sign for West Ham after interest from Manchester United ended earlier in the summer.

The Red Devils were excited about the Nice star but were unable to make a move due to Ineos’ ownership of the French team.

It is believed the defender will join the Hammers on loan with an obligation to buy next summer.

Watkins ‘should reject United’

Dwight Yorke has insisted Ollie Watkins should reject any interest from Manchester United to stay at Aston Villa.

He said Betting on the Champions League: “For Ollie Watkins, I would advise him to stay at Aston Villa and continue doing what he has been doing. If United were still dominating it would be an easy decision, but now I don’t think he would enjoy his time there as much.

“At Aston Villa, in the Champions League, I think he will have a lot more fun. He is Villa’s best player. That status when you go to Manchester United is taken away from you.

“You have to earn the right, which means starting all over again. United are also not in the Champions League.

“When I left Villa, they weren’t in the Champions League, but Manchester United were. So it was an easy transition from that. Now it’s on the other side of things.”

Zirkzee ready to play

Erik ten Hag has insisted that Joshua Zirkzee is ready to play for Manchester United in the Community Shield against Manchester City.

He told MUTV: “Yes, I think he can [feature].

“He’s really looking forward to doing it because he’s eager and also really excited about getting to the Premier League.

“Coming to Manchester United and going to Wembley for the first time, of course that will motivate him a lot, that’s for sure.

“But he has also had little training, he took a break, trained individually, but now he has had a few days of team training.”

Ten Witch in Jadon Sancho

Erik ten Hag has offered hope of Jadon Sacho’s redemption at Manchester United.

The coach praised the English striker’s versatility in playing all attacking roles.

He said: “Jadon can play across the entire front line.

“He is an option for more than one position and it depends on how you build the team.

“You can look at your own tactics, opponents who are a better fit and Jadon has some skills that you can use in one game, tactics and the next game.”

De Gea arrives in Italy

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea touched down in Italy on Friday ahead of his move to Fiorentina.

Free agent De Gea is set to return to football after 14 months with the Serie A giants.

The 33-year-old is expected to sign a one-year contract with the option of a further 12 months with Fiorentina later this afternoon.

De Gea has been out of work since leaving United last summer after failing to agree a contract extension.

His last official appearance was more than 400 days ago, in the Red Devils’ defeat to Manchester City in the 2023 FA Cup final.

Man Utd reveals new roof

Manchester United showed off their new tunnel at Old Trafford ahead of the 2024-25 season… but fans were quick to point out the “leaky roof” which hasn’t been fixed since last season.

Old Trafford’s “leaky” roof has long been derided by rival fans.

During the closing stages of Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in May, a storm caused water to rush through the stands at Old Trafford.

However, although this has yet to be fixed, the club revealed on Friday that the tunnel has now been built and fans are delighted.

The renovation features a red and black tunnel adorned with the United crest on the roof.

“The Theater of Dreams” is prominently displayed at the exit leading to the field.
