DeJuan Jones is officially a member of the Columbus Crew and wasted no time opening his account after making his debut for the reigning MLS Cup champions tonight in the Crew’s Leagues Cup knockout clash with Sporting KC.
The crafty winger joined the champions in a trade with New England last week, and it’s safe to say Jones is already making an impact at his new club.
While the Crew were already 2-0 up, Jones came on in the 76th minute for his debut in front of a full house at Lower.com Field. Just 30 seconds later, the former Revs player found the back of the net, finishing a beautiful double for everyone, but he put the game to bed.
That goal is the fastest by a rookie player in Columbus Crew history in all competitions, a moment Jones and the fans won’t soon forget.
After some solid achievements this summer, Wilfried Nancy’s team looks to be on track for another historic season.
