MANCHESTER UNITED fans are certain that Bernardo Silva should have been sent off before his late equalizer in the Community Shield which led to Man City’s penalty victory.
Silva received a yellow card just five minutes after coming onto the pitch, but United fans are convinced it should have been a red card.

Silva was brought on in place of James McAtee in the 80th minute as United led 1–0 through a second-half goal from Alejandro Garnacho.
And after just five minutes on the Wembley pitch, the Portuguese ace left a late challenge on United’s goalscorer.
Silva was putting pressure on Garnacho when he invaded the Argentine and left a leg after receiving a pass.
United fans were less than pleased with the foul, which was checked by VAR and deemed merely a yellow card offence.

But after escaping with a late shot, Silva appeared in the box to score the equalizer just four minutes later.
The 30-year-old entered the box and connected with Oscar Bobb’s cross, leveling the score with just a minute remaining and ultimately forcing a penalty shootout.
Man Utd fans were furious that he was the man who denied them a second successive Wembley win over their neighbours, citing his ugly foul as the reason he should not have been on the pitch.
On social media, one wrote: “This should be a red card for Bernardo Silva!”

A third commented: “I don’t know how Bernardo Silva wasn’t sent off there”.

It looked for all the world like Silva received instant karma during the penalty shootout after he missed the penalty to give United the lead.
However, failures from Jadon Sancho and Jonny Evans meant City came away with their first silverware of the season – starting the campaign as they intend to continue.
