CHELSEA are reportedly in talks to re-sign João Félix from Atletico Madrid after a £35million move for Samu Omorodion collapsed dramatically last night.

The 20-year-old Spanish striker had already signed a seven-year contract to move to Stamford Bridge after helping his country secure gold at the Paris Olympics.

But the Athletic claims that Omorodion’s move to Chelsea was canceled after an unspecified “major problem” occurred in the final transfer process.

The Blues are now set to enter the Premier League season without the new striker they so desperately want.

And it also means that two key transfers from Atletico Madrid are also in doubt.

The Spaniards were on the verge of signing Chelsea fans’ favorite Conor Gallagher, whose £34m exit will ease PSR’s fears in west London.

A £75m deal for Man City striker Julian Alvarez has also been agreed, with both deals reportedly dependent on Omorodion moving to Chelsea.

But Fabrice Romanoo claims that a new way has been found to keep transfers alive.

He reckons Atlético and Chelsea are now discussing terms for Portuguese striker Félix, who is also wanted by Aston Villa.

The £113m playmaker scored four goals in 16 games during a brief loan spell under Graham Potter and Frank Lampard in the 2022/23 campaign.

Felix spent last season at Barcelona, where he scored 10 goals and assisted five more in 41 appearances.

And now he could be set for an impressive return to the Bridge in a bid to keep Gallagher’s departure alive.

It is unclear whether Felix’s move would be another loan or permanent.

But he could jump at the chance to have a second spell at Chelsea, especially with possession fanatic Enzo Maresca in charge.

However, Aston Villa are unlikely to give up their move without a fight and will be hoping the lure of Champions League football can lure Felix to the Midlands – but only if Atletico accept their current offer of £27m.

Chelsea are also expected to continue pushing for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who they want to sign on loan with the option of a permanent deal.

Napoli have already agreed a three-year contract with Blues misfit Romelu Lukaku, who could go if his £38m release clause is met.

But the Italians are currently unwilling to bid until Osimhen is offloaded with the obligation to buy.

And that could see Paris Saint-Germain win the race as they look for Kylian Mbappe’s replacement.
