Chelsea are weighing up the possibility of re-signing Atletico Madrid striker João Félix after negotiations for striker Samu Omorodion collapsed.

Discussions over personal terms between the Blues and Atlético’s 20-year-old Omorodion broke down last night despite a £34.5m fee agreed last week.

There has always been caution at Stamford Bridge over a deal for Omorodion, as the Blues explore a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, with Romelu Lukaku heading in the opposite direction.

The deal for Omorodion is not 100 percent complete, but negotiations have not progressed as the various parties had hoped.

Chelsea are now considering a move for Felix, among a host of other attacking options, after meeting with his agent Jorge Mendes.

ONE £54m deal to sign Wolves striker Pedro Neto confirmed on Saturday, it means Chelsea have signed 10 players so far this summer with an average age of under 21, spending £185m and increasing their squad to around 50 senior players.

Felix, 24, is open to returning to Stamford Bridge, where he enjoyed a six-month loan spell during the 2022-23 season.

BBC Sport understands Atletico value Felix at around £43m.

Another aspect of any potential agreement is that it would allow midfielder Conor Gallagher to complete his move to the Wanda Metropolitano for £34 million, with Atlético needing to fund the sale of a key player to complete the transfer.

Atletico posted a photo of Gallagher on their social media channels on Saturday but stopped short of announcing the deal, knowing it was linked to the completion of a major player sale.

The LaLiga club’s £81.5m move for Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez must still be approved regardless of the need to sell a player to sign Gallagher.
