ArsenalRosa Kafaji’s new signing was described by her coach Jonas Eideval as “one of the most exciting young talents in the world”.
The striker, who joined the Gunners from Swedish club BK Häcken, was signed to replace Viviane MiedemaWho joined Manchester City on a free transfer earlier this summer.
“I am very happy that we brought Rosa to the club,” Eidevall told the club’s websiteafter securing a long-term deal with Kafaji.
“She is one of the most exciting young talents in the world and I have been a huge admirer of her game for several years. She plays with fearlessness beyond her years and I know she has the hunger and mentality to fulfill her potential here at Arsenal.”
Despite being just 21 years old, Kafaji has made over 100 appearances for the senior team, after making his debut for his hometown club AIK Football’s first team at the age of 15.
Last season she was BK Häcken’s top scorer, scoring 15 goals, including four, in a thrilling Women’s Champions League campaign that saw Häcken beat Real Madrid twice on the way to the quarter-finals.
“It’s amazing to join this club – I’m so happy to be here,” added Kafaji. “I have a really good feeling after speaking to Jonas and Clare (Wheatley) and it feels right to be at Arsenal. I want to continue growing and I know this is the right place to do that and compete for the biggest trophies.
“I can’t wait to get started and go out at Emirates Stadium in front of all our fans.”
The new season begins on the weekend of September 7th and 8th, with Arsenal’s season opener against Manchester City being the pick of the fixtures.
