WESLEY SNEIJDER says Antony should be “ashamed” of his antics in Coventry and now wants Manchester United to be beaten in the final.

The shocking incident occurred when the Red Devils narrowly avoided disaster and beat the Sky Blues on penalties to set up a clash with Man City in the FA Cup final.

It came after the Championship side came from 3-0 down to take the game into extra time and then have a late goal disallowed for offside, denying them a famous victory.

Antony was brought on shortly before Coventry’s first goal and did not come forward as the match went to penalties after Victor Torp’s 120th-minute goal was disallowed due to an offside in the build-up.

Callum O’Hare had a penalty saved and Ben Sheaf fired over the crossbar, allowing Rasmus Hojlund to step up and convert to win the penalty shootout.

However, viewers were left disgusted to see Antony putting his hands over his ears towards the Coventry players after the final kick.

The £85million man’s actions were communicated to manager Erik ten Hag during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s visit to Sheffield United.

And the Dutchman sensationally DEFENDED his player’s actions.

Meanwhile, Antony sensationally claimed he cupped his hands over his ears in response to the actions of some Sky Blues stars during the shooting.

He wrote in X: “Coventry proved why they reached the semi-final.

“We sought this place in the final for our fans and we achieved it.

“The way our fans were treated by their player was not friendly and I, in the heat of the moment, reacted to the provocations in a natural defense of my club!”

But the incident caught the attention of Dutch legend Sneijder – and he was quick to take the shot.

He told Ziggo Sport: “Antony should be absolutely ashamed of what he did.

“He should have walked straight off the field instead of doing that. I hope Manchester United lose 5-0 in the final.”

And even the Premier League’s “most hated player” criticized Antony for his antics.

Brentford liquidation trader Neal Maupay declared it a step too far.

Posting a clip of Antony’s reaction, the striker said: “For the record, even I wouldn’t do that.”

Our beautiful game is broken

When Manchester United got lucky in the FA Cup semi-final, Antony’s first instinct was to goad heartbroken opponents Coventry. To rub your nose in the dirt.

Antonio appears to be a vile individual, but he is not really Antonio. Because António is just a symptom of the horrible disease in the English top flight.

There is so much wrong.

After our elite clubs persuaded the FA to scrap World Cup replays completely – which gave us Ronnie Radford, Ricky Villa and Ryan Giggs – without due reward or reasoning with the rest of English football.

The previous day, after Manchester City defeated Chelsea in the other FA Cup semi-final, Pep Guardiola complained about the match schedule of the television companies that actually pay a large part of his £20 million salary.

At Wolves, Guardiola’s friend and rival Mikel Arteta was playing the same sad song about fixture congestion, despite his Arsenal team having played two fewer games this season than Coventry – who have no £50 players million to switch.

Chelsea, oh Chelsea. The former toy of a Russian oligarch now owned by financially incontinent venture capitalists who have spent £1 billion on a team of players fighting like weasels in a sack over who should enjoy the personal glory of scoring the penalty that puts them 5-0 up against Everton.
