PREMIER LEAGUE legend Damien Duff has criticized his own player in an awkward live TV interview.
Duff, 45, lit up England’s top flight during an incredible period that spanned almost 20 years.
The former Republic of Ireland hero played for Blackburn, Chelsea, Newcastle and Fulham.
And he ended his career in 2015 at Shamrock Rovers.
Duff since then moved into the world of management.
Having started out as a youth coach at Shamrock, he now leads rivals Shelbourne.
Duff welcomed his old side into Monday night’s Premier Division clash, with the two teams drawing 0-0.
But Shelbourne were forced to play the final 15 minutes with just 10 men after substitute Shane Farrell received two yellow cards for fouls.
The 23-year-old lasted just 12 minutes after crushing his opponent.
AND Duff had no sympathy for Farrellinstead, he criticized the fan favorite for failing to deliver on and off the field.

In a surprising speech, Duff criticized Farrell’s diet and belittled his popularity among his supporters.
To make matters worse, Duff even claimed that nearly a decade after retiring, he could play as well as Farrell on any given day.
The two-time Premier League winner with Chelsea said: “In terms of Shane here, I am always honest in private and in public. He knows he let everyone down.
“I laughed at his diet the first year, the chicken fillet rolls, whatever.
“That time has passed. The way you live your life off the field, how you train usually shows up on game night and it did.
“I understand he’s a fan favorite and everything, but he didn’t deserve to play.
“Not at all. Flashes. I could go on and give you a flash. I’m 45 and I can’t walk.
“These days it’s a 100-minute game, so the flashes aren’t good enough for me.
“Shane doesn’t erupt. I wouldn’t call it a rash. I looked at them, they are two horrible tackles.
“You don’t live right, you don’t train right, you’re a meter away and you’re late in a tackle.
“It’s not rocket science for me. Like I told him up there, he’s not going to ruin the players’ night.”
In a second TV interview, Duff added: “He let the whole football club down, it’s as simple as that.
“(Have I ever been sent off?) No. He has two ridiculous yellow cards, I don’t see it any other way.
“I believe he is the public favorite here, he disappointed everyone.”
