MANCHESTER UNITED squad are “unhappy” following new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s decision to cut their FA Cup final leads.

The Red Devils will play in a second successive FA Cup final on May 25, a repeat of last year’s final against Manchester City – where Pep Guardiola’s men claimed a 2-1 victory.

In the past, Man Utd has distributed tickets to all of its 1,100 staff, while senior staff and directors have been able to bring friends and family.

Travel to and from the stadium, food before the game, post-game party and hotel accommodation were also paid for by the club.

But The times have now revealed that an email was sent to all staff after new protocols were established by co-owners Ineos, led by British billionaire Ratcliffe.

Staff have been told they will only receive a ticket for the game but will also have to pay £20 for bus travel to and from Wembley on the day of the game.

All other perks have been discarded.

The email said: “There is still a lot of work to do in the coming weeks, but I know that everyone at the club is completely focused on delivering the performances and results expected from Manchester United and finding ways to win in whatever role they play.

“In recognition of your continued support this season, we will be organizing a teammates trip to Wembley for the final on May 25th.

“This year the trip will be a little different. We will continue to offer you a free ticket to the game. However, we will ask you to contribute towards the bus journey and lunch will not be provided.

“While we recognize this is a change from previous tours, you will all be aware of the need for us to spend the club’s money effectively, with a focus on performance and results.

“We hope this year’s trip balances the opportunity for you to come to Wembley to support our players whilst also ensuring we can invest as much as possible into the club over the coming months to achieve our aim of returning Manchester United to the top of the table . English, European and world football.”

Who could be the next Man Utd manager after Ten Hag?

The email also states that “subsidised buses to and from Wembley will be provided”, although there is the caveat “you will be asked to contribute £20 towards the return journey or £10 one-way”.

This fee will be deducted from employees’ June salaries.

Reports claim this is an attempt by Ratcliffe and Ineos to ensure they remain within Uefa and Premier League profit and sustainability rules.

The withdrawal of employee benefits is considered a “blow to morale”, but some are considered “supportive” of the decision.

However, criticism has emerged after Man Utd’s owners were praised earlier this week for agreeing to subsidize FA Cup final tickets for all Under-16 season ticket holders.

Young supporters will receive a £30 discount, meaning some will be able to buy a ticket for just £5.
