ARSENAL legend and Gooner Piers Morgan admitted they “got away with it” as VAR dominated again.

The Gunners restored their four-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a 3-0 victory.

Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and Declan Rice were on target to increase the pressure on second-placed Man City ahead of their clash with Wolves.

However, the main point of discussion after the lunchtime game at the Emirates was the much-maligned VAR.

And that led to more calls for the technology to be scrapped.

Both teams suffered controversial decisions during the game as Cherries ace Ryan Christie escaped a red card for a high tackle, while his side also had a goal disallowed in the second half.

Saka and Rrossard had already given Arsenal a two-goal lead when Antoine Semenyo appeared to have rallied the visitors back after collecting the rebound after Christie’s shot had hit the post.

But the celebrations were soon cut short when Dominic Solanke was found guilty of fouling goalkeeper David Raya by backing into him in the build-up following a VAR check.

Solanke moved towards Raya as the loose ball fell back into the box as the defender weakly tried to deflect, with the referee blowing despite the contact being minimal.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola and his coaching staff were furious after watching the replay but, after a long delay of several minutes, officials at Stockley Park did not advise the referee to check his pitchside monitor.

I played with Ian Wright at Arsenal for six years… he used to go crazy and fight rival players in the dressing room-

This came after the away side believed they should have been awarded a penalty moments earlier when Philip Billing was cleared by William Saliba.

However, this time VAR did not intervene, putting the team working on the technology under more scrutiny.

And it even led TalkTV presenter and renowned Arsenal fan Morgan to call for it to be cut completely.

He wrote on X: “VAR is so bad that even when Arsenal get a verdict our way (like now), I still hate the damn thing for the way it takes all the joy out of the game.”

Meanwhile, former Gunners striker Wright admitted VAR ripped off Bournemouth.

He wrote: “I didn’t think it was a penalty. Bournemouth’s goal should have stood.”

Wright was referring to Kai Havertz being brought down by Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers, which led to Saka scoring from the penalty spot.

Fans were furious that “Havertz knew what he was doing” as he swung a leg to initiate contact.

And other fans were also furious after the final whistle over the incidents.

“I’m fed up with VAR”, criticized one fed-up spectator.

The Gooner wrote: “This is an all day goal, I have to be honest.

“VAR is a mess for everyone involved, I just have to hope it’s not your team every week.”

While a third added: “The implementation of VAR in the Premier League is baffling. VAR should not referee games.

“It is simply supposed to tell the referee if and when he has made a clear and obvious error. That’s how it works in other leagues anyway.”

Meet the Arsenal Wags, from Strictly star to flight attendant

Tomali Benson – Bukayo Saka’s partner

Benson and Saka have kept information about their relationship secret.

They don’t appear on each other’s Instagram pages, but she was seen chatting with Saka at the 2022 World Cup.

Helene Spilling – Martin Odegaard’s partner

Norwegian professional dancer who rose to fame on the national version of Strictly Come Dancing, the pair were first seen together at the Football Awards in March 2023.

The pair met in 2014 before getting married in 2019.

They have two sons together, Thiago and Amadeo.
