With Mauricio Pochettino’s side looking light in attack at times this season, signing a new striker will be on the agenda.

According to Italian transfer expert DiMarziothe Blues have made initial contact with Napoli regarding a deal for Osimhen.

The 25-year-old has been among the best strikers in Serie A since moving to Italy from Lille in 2020.

With two years left on his contract, this could be the summer that Napoli look to cash in on the Nigerian.

It is claimed that Chelsea are willing to use the overlooked Lukaku in a deal to sign Osimhen.

The 30-year-old Belgian returned to the Blues in a disastrous £97.5m deal in 2021.

He has spent the last two seasons on loan – first at Inter Milan and this time at Roma.

With two years remaining on his contract, the Blues will look to permanently reduce his wages from their wage bill this summer.

As well as £77m plus Lukaku, Chelsea are also willing to sign a young player to sweeten the deal.

Osimhen helped Napoli win the historic Serie A title last season.

This time he scored 14 goals in 22 appearances, having missed much of the campaign with a hamstring injury and the Afcon.

Lukaku, in turn, scored 11 goals in 29 Serie A games for Roma, 19 in all competitions.

Chelsea are likely to face stiff competition for Osimhen’s signature.

Paris Saint-Germain is interested in the striker and plans to enter into negotiations soon.

The French champions are set to lose Kylian Mbappe this summer, with the striker confirming he will leave the Parc des Princes upon completion of his contract.

How Pochettino can solve Chelsea’s midfield crisis thanks to the works of a 13th-century poet

By Andy Dillon

It is HIGHLY unlikely that Mauricio Pochettino is familiar with Rumi’s work.

Whether the renowned poet and Islamic mystic had in mind the tactical dilemmas faced by the Chelsea manager as he dreamed of his academic labors in 13th-century Afghanistan, we will never know.

It’s fair to say that Rumi wasn’t a regular at The Shed at Stamford Bridge.

However, one of his most famous quotes goes right to the heart of Pochettino’s problems as he tries to turn his team into consistent challengers at the top of the Premier League.

It was Rumi who wrote so prophetically: “Two birds tied together. They won’t be able to fly even though they have four wings.”

He could have written that in his program from so many Chelsea games this season in relation to Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.

There is a feeling among regular Chelsea watchers that although it is a personal blow for Fernandez to be sidelined for the rest of the season with an injury problem, it could still be to Pochettino’s advantage.

Because it allows Caicedo to travel this stretch in front of his defense with greater freedom. Both players are exceptional individual talents.
