MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly plan to use Harry Maguire in a swap move to try and sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton.
The defender is valued at £70m by the Toffees and is one of the Red Devils’ top transfer targets this summer.
Everton’s dire financial situation means they will be limited in who they can buy at the end of the season.
This means the Toffees may have to sell star players to avoid further points deductions.
And one asset they will consider selling is young Branthwaite.
Amid growing interest across the Premier League, the England Under-21 international could see his price increase by £70m.
According to the Daily StarUnited will try to offer Maguire, also an experienced Three Lions defender, for the 21-year-old.
But it’s not all up to the club, as Maguire last summer refused to join West Ham despite knowing he had no future at Old Trafford.
The 31-year-old saw the move as an injury crisis in United’s defense that forced manager Erik ten Hag to call him into the first team.
The Red Devils are hoping that by including the ex-Leicester man they can offset around £20m in any deal.

After spending last season on loan at Eredivisie side PSV, the Carlisle-born star was included in the Three Lions squad that won the Under-21 European Championship.
Now a key player under Sean Dyche with 38 appearances this season, Branthwaite was called up to the England squad for the first time in March.
The defender will be hoping to impress Gareth Southgate to secure his place in the Euro 2024 squad this summer.
