Helped by his former Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez scored a hat trick in victory at Chase Stadium to take the Florida club to the top of the table.
Messi, nominated MLS April’s player of the month, he scored a goal himself to extend his streak of goals and assists in each play in six league games.
Matias Rojas scored Inter Miami’s other two goals as he continued an excellent start to the seasonovercoming a 1-0 half-time deficit with six goals after the break before Emil Forsberg scored for the Red Bulls late on.
Tata Martino’s team have gone six games without losing since Messi’s return to form in April.
“It has become redundant, but it seems like he is always making history,” Martino said of Messi. “If there was anything missing, it was this: contributing six goals.
“We have a lot of players who are capable of scoring. In some moments of the match we will find favorable moments. The question is how we limit the unfavorable moments.”
Messi’s former Barcelona teammate Jordi Alba missed his third consecutive game with a hamstring injury. Inter Miami’s next trip is to Quebec to face Montreal on Saturday.
