BRENTWOOD goalkeeper Melvin Minter has been accused of wasting time in a most creative way during a match against Bury Town.
The Blues visit Bury in the Isthmian League North Division play-off semi-final on Tuesday at Ram Meadow.
Brentwood won 3-1 and progressed to the final, where they were defeated by Bowers & Pitsea 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Minter, 29, went viral during the final stages of the semi-final when he tripped while attempting a goal kick.
Fans accused the goalkeeper of deliberately wasting time as he wiped his face with a towel.
The referee showed the Brentwood number 1 a yellow card following the bizarre incident.
A clip of the howl went viral with football fans going crazy on social media and some even comparing Minter to notorious Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez.
One fan tweeted: “Waste of time at its best.”
Another commented: “Housery of the highest level”.
A third posted: “Emi Martínez taking notes.”
