JAMIE CARRAGHER launched a scathing attack on Casemiro last night following Manchester United’s 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.
It was a shocking performance from the Red Devils, but Carragher singled out Casemiro for criticism on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.
He was embarrassingly dribbled past for Michael Olise’s brilliant first solo goal, which left him shocked after trying to attack the winger.
And in total he was dribbled eight times that night, the most times a player has been beaten in a Premier League match this season.
After the game, Carragher said it was time for the midfielder to “call it a day” on his glittering career.
The former Liverpool player suggested that the Brazilian move to MLS or the Saudi league as, in his opinion, he is no longer a top-class midfielder.
Carragher said: “‘I said at half-time that he’s [Ten Hag] I have to take Casemiro out. I know he has kids on the bench, but I think Casemiro, seriously, should recognize himself tonight as an experienced player who should only have three more games left at the highest level. The next two league games and the [FA] Cup Final.
“And he should be thinking ‘I need to go to MLS or Saudi Arabia’. I’m serious. He’s getting older, people around him need to tell him this has to stop.
“We are watching one of the greats of modern times playing in one of the best midfields we have ever seen, which dominated Europe.
“Him holding, [Toni] Kroos to the side [Luka] Modric, on the other hand, was one of the best midfielders. He could easily face the Barcelona midfield we all love (with) [Sergio] Busquets, Xavi and [Andres] Iniesta.

“He’s been absolutely incredible. I’m nowhere near the level that man achieved. Champions League, playing for Brazil, playing for Real Madrid.
“But I always remember something when I retired, there was a saying that I always remember as a football player: “leave football before football leaves you”.
“Football has left him at this top level, he needs to call it a day at this level of football and move on.”
Casemiro was one of Erik ten Hag’s first signings and joined from Real Madrid for £70m in 2022.
He is one of United’s highest earners and is believed to earn around £350,000 a week.
The midfielder brings a wealth of experience to United, having won five Champions League titles with Real Madrid and three Spanish league titles.
But he will now undoubtedly be in Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s sights as the British businessman continues his overhaul of Manchester United this summer.
Getting rid of him could be complicated, given the fact that he is on huge wages and still has two years left on his contract, with United still having the option to extend his contract for another year.
Carragher suggested the club should consider terminating Casmiro’s contract when he said: “He will have made a few pounds, good luck to him. They pay him and do some kind of deal, but the level of this player he shouldn’t be at submitting to it.
“He is too good a player to have a performance like that and be ridiculed by Crystal Palace. He won’t play against Manchester City, he won’t play against Real Madrid, all because of Crystal Palace.
“A man at that level shouldn’t be going through what he’s going through. He needs to call it a day.”
Experts’ verdict on Ten Hag’s future

What are the experts’ stance on Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United?
Jamie Carragher – fired
“I don’t see how Erik ten Hag will stay. It’s just performance after performance.”
Gary Neville – Stay if you win the FA Cup
“Firing a manager who won two trophies in his first two seasons at the club would be extreme.”
Louis Saha – On the fence
“I don’t see it so clearly, but they need changes from the players, but they also need changes from him.”
Alan Shearer – fired
“I believe the future of the Man Utd manager has already been determined. Even if they win the FA Cup, I think he is gone.”
