NOTTINGHAM FOREST have learned the outcome of their appeal against the four-point deduction imposed by the Premier League.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s team was sanctioned in March for violating profits and sustainability rules.

Forest immediately revealed his intention to appeal and presented his defense at a hearing on April 24.

But now it has been reported by Atlético that his attempt to reduce his sentence was unsuccessful.

And the four-point penalty remains in effect.

The decision to uphold the independent commission’s decision means Forest remain in the fight for survival – 17th in the table with 29 points.

The club remains three points above Luton in 18th and five ahead of Burnley in 19th with just two games remaining this season.

Since Forest received a points deduction for overspending of £34.5 million over a three-year period, they have found themselves embroiled in a relegation battle.

But a big win over Sheffield United on Saturday – with Luton drawing with Everton – puts the Tricky Trees within striking distance of Prem safety.

The club’s goal difference is also 11 better than that of the Hatters.

Forest could have received a six-point penalty but were punished less for their “early appeal” and “excellent co-operation”.

Despite the end of the points deduction saga, Forest remain at war with the Premier League.

Premier League releases full audio of Everton v Nottingham Forest VAR decisions as Howard Webb admits error

Bosses must take action against the club after a bombshell statement destroyed the standard of refereeing.

Forest have criticized the appointment of Luton fan Stuart Attwell to VAR as he was denied three penalties in a clash against Everton last month.

The club is not the only team found guilty of violating PSR rules this season.

Everton were docked a total of eight points for two separate charges.

The initial ten-point deduction was reduced to six upon appeal, before two more were scored for a separate violation.

Since then, Sean Dyche’s side have avoided relegation concerns.

THE SITUATION OF THE PSR

Where are the clubs in danger…

Everton

The initial 10-point deduction for 2021-22 violations was reduced to six points on appeal. Now deduct two more points.

City of Manchester

The Etihad club emphatically denies the 115 allegations made against them in February 2023. The Commission’s lengthy case is scheduled to begin in October or November, but a final decision is not expected until March or April 2025.

Chelsea

Blues bosses have exposed illicit payments made to agents and others during the Roman Abramovich era. Fined £8.6m by Uefa but still not charged by the Prem despite an ongoing investigation.

Leicester

The Foxes breached Prem PSR loss limits last season but did not have to report their 2022-23 accounts until this month due to relegation. This delays the schedule and means they will likely face a Prem points deduction next semester.
