Real Madrid came from behind to book their place in next month’s final at Wembley Stadium against Borussia Dortmund.

However, they were forced to wait for a draw after having a goal disallowed by VAR.

The Spanish giants thought they had leveled the score after a corner was cleared by Bayern’s top scorer Alphonso Davies.

Referee Szymon Marciniak was sent to the canvas, before ruling out the goal for a foul on Joshua Kimmich.

Nacho Fernandez pushed the full-back to the ground before pushing the ball into the goal.

During the VAR review, replays of the incident were shown on the stadium’s big screen.

This breached IFAB protocol, however, with TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher stating: “I thought there was some kind of rule against it”, after noticing replays were being shown.

Football lawmakers IFAB announced last summer that VAR replays should not be shown inside stadiums until referees have made their decision.

Secretary Lukas Brud told Sky Sports News: “We have to protect the referees.

“We want to avoid referees feeling pressured or influenced by players, managers or fans while they are in the decision-making process.

“We do not allow decision-making images to be shown while they are being considered.”

The incident occurred after the referees missed a second ball on the pitch when Real Madrid almost scored.

Fans were left confused after Los Blancos took a throw-in with another ball already on the pitch.

There was also more VAR drama as Real completed a dramatic comeback late on.

Joselu took advantage of a Manuel Neuer error to equalize in the 88th minute.

The winning goal three minutes later was awarded by VAR after the on-field offside decision was overturned following review.
