May 9 — KENNESW, Ga. — Carolina Core FC recorded its first league win in club history.

The Foxes scored twice just before halftime to take the lead and beat Atlanta United 2-2 in MLS NEXT Pro Soccer on Wednesday at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

Jacob Alexander Evans and Christian Alejandro Diaz each scored for CCFC (1-1-4), who played a man down for the final four minutes of the match after receiving a red card. Evans also had an assist.

Evans equalized the score in the 43rd minute when he received a pass from Derek Cuevas near the top of the box, met the ball and shot. Diaz gave the Foxes the lead almost two minutes into first-half extra time when he headed a free kick that Evans deflected into the box.

Alex Sutton finished with six saves in goal.

CCFC will play again on Sunday, May 19, away from home, against Inter Miami II. It will visit Toronto on May 23 before hosting its first home game on June 1 against Huntsville.
