OXFORD UNITED has been given permission to build a new 16,000-seat site on a staggering 250-year lease.
According to BBC Oxford Sport RadioOxfordshire County Council and US have signed the legally binding agreement on a lease at the Triangle site, near Kidlington.
The club, however, must honor the commitments made to the community in terms of social, environmental and economic benefits.
And the deal currently depends on Cherwell District Council granting planning permission.
This comes after recent news suggesting that Oxford’s current stadium, Kassam Stadium, will become a driving school for children.
Parts of Kassam will be turned into a realistic road for novice drivers to practice on.
Young Driver will transform a section of the club’s car park into a road equipped with roundabouts, intersections and traffic signs.
It will also include areas for future drivers – some of whom will be as young as 10 – to practice their maneuvers.
And the EFL club is ready to move on in the coming years.
An extract from a club statement read last month: “Our focus is on securing the long-term future of Oxford United and delivering on our commitments to the Oxfordshire community.
