The first of these occurred in the 2010/11 campaign, when Bournemouth were automatically promoted to League One.

During that season, Brett Pitman scored 28 goals in all competitions and finished third in the League One goalscoring table behind Lee Hughes and Adam Le Fondre.

Now Howe has spoken about Pitman’s talent as a finisher, praising the Jersey-born striker.

Talking about The overlapsponsored by Sky BetSalford co-owner Gary Neville asked about navigating League Two successfully.

To which Howe replied: “What took us out of League Two was having a goalscorer.

“Brett Pitman, in terms of finishing, was one of the best I’ve ever worked with and we had a solid defense.

“If you have those two in this league, then I think you’ll be successful.”

After Howe left for Burnley and Pitman left for Bristol City, the pair were reunited at Bournemouth in 2012.

One of those came in the Wessex League play-off final last month when he inspired his team to promotion to the Southern League.

He also bagged SEVEN in a game in January – a performance which left Shaftesbury “crushed” as he had signed a £75 goal bonus – meaning he accrued £525 on top of his normal salary.

In total, he has scored 48.7 percent of his team’s league goals this season.
