LUTON TOWN fans appeared to be “commissioners” during the Hatters’ 3-1 defeat to West Ham this afternoon.
Luton were all but relegated because they failed to beat the Hammers, leaving their prospects of staying top looking bleak with just one game to go.
Video has emerged of away fans at the London Stadium appearing to fight with stewards as their team lost away from home.
Fan-filmed clips showed large numbers of traveling supporters pushing and shoving as stewards stood between them and tried to stop the sad scenes.
Other videos appeared to show police intervening to try to break up the fight.
Some fans have suggested that there was fighting between Luton fans, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
The spirits of visiting fans were understandably low after seeing their team take a step closer to a return to the Championship.
Survival is almost impossible, with Luton needing to win their remaining game against Fulham and hope Nottingham Forest lose to Chelsea and Burnley.
They would also have to overturn a 13-goal deficit if they were to manage results – meaning a return to life in England’s second tier now looks inevitable.
The dream of a great relegation escape appeared to have come to fruition in the early stages of the game when Arsenal loanee Albert Sambi Lokonga put Luton 1-0 ahead within six minutes.

But a second-half West Ham blitz saw the score quickly turned upside down thanks to goals from James Ward-Prowse, Jarrod Bowen and George Earthy.
Although some Luton fans seemed to take their frustrations out the wrong way, the majority of fans showed their love for Rob Edwards and the team.
The full-time scenes saw the despondent team and coaching staff soothed by a chorus of chants from visiting fans who showed their appreciation for the team’s efforts this season.
