REECE JAMES returned to inspire Chelsea’s thrilling late victory.
Willy Boly quickly canceled out Mykhailo Mudryk’s elegant first goal for Chelsea – before an incredible finish to the second half.
Blues old boy Callum Hudson-Odoi brilliantly put Forest ahead in the 74th minute.
But Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson scored in the space of two minutes to improve the Europa League chances of Mauricio Pochettino’s visitors.
Mudryk put Chelsea ahead in the eighth minute, with Cole Palmer providing the assist.
But Boly headed in a simple equalizer eight minutes later after finding space from what looked like a routine Morgan Gibbs-White free kick – VAR confirming it was onside.
Forest captain Ryan Yates hit a low 20-yard shot against the post just after half-time – in a sign of the escalating drama to come
And Chelsea soon had an incredible double escape in this often frantic contest
Hudson-Odoi delivered a backpost cross which Gibbs-White stretched to head home from close range – with Chris Wood hitting the high rebound from almost as close, although he had to twist it back.
And Hudson-Odoi completed a lightning move started by goalkeeper Matz Sels to put Forest ahead in style.
Passed by Gibbs White, the three-cap Englishman turned the ball inside with his right foot for a low shot into the far corner in the 74th minute.
But Sterling came in to equalize with a similar effort – just a little firmer and further away.
And almost immediately in-form substitute James crossed for Jackson and nodded Chelsea ahead – the striker leaping into the crowd to celebrate wildly and earn a yellow card.
It’s the rebound from about four yards.
