MANCHESTER CITY are ready to sign young Everton goalkeeper Douglas Lukjanciks – and could pay up to £10m for him.
England under-17 international Lukjanciks has been pursued by a number of clubs but City are keen to sign him this summer.
The deal would help the Toffees keep their Financial Fair Play figures in check as Lukjanciks is local and this is significant in the calculations.
City want a young goalkeeper to reach the top.
They have sold several others in recent years who never played for the club.
There could even be a swap deal with City sending a young local player to Everton as the two teams discuss the package.
According to reports, Man City could face competition from Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Lukjanciks has dual nationality thanks to his Latvian heritage, meaning he would be considered a national player in all other major European leagues.
He will reportedly finish school in the summer and is expected to sign academic terms with Sean Dyche’s side.
Tottenham, Aston Villa and Marseille are also keeping an eye on the teenage prodigy.
Lukjanciks is considered one of England’s most promising goalkeepers and plays above his age group.
Most of his appearances came at youth level during the Under-18 Premier League campaign.
It is believed that Everton see him as the club’s future No. 1 in the coming years.
The Merseyside giants currently have Jordan Pickford, João Virginia, Andy Lonergan and Billy Crellin as goalkeeping options for the first team.
While Fraser Barnsley and Dylan Graham are the Under-21 options.
