FANS declared “this is hilarious” after Crystal Palace demanded £86m from Bayern Munich to poach Oliver Glasner.

The 49-year-old Austrian coach only joined the Eagles in February, replacing Roy Hodgson.

Since then, he has impressed with six wins and just three defeats in 12 matches.

Glasner has also made Palace play some beautiful football, as seen in their 4-0 defeat of Manchester United last week.

AND Photograph claims his short-term success attracted interest from Bayern earlier this month.

The fallen German giants, who lost their perennial Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen after an 11-year season, will part ways with Thomas Tuchel this summer.

Bayern have been snubbed by several coaches, including Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Unai Emery and Ralf Rangnick.

After the latter backed out of a deal after initially agreeing to terms, it is believed that Bayern quickly turned to Glasner in the hope of luring him from London to Bavaria.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg coach is reportedly interested in leaving Palace after less than three months.

And after holding positive talks with Glasner, Bayern presented the Eagles with an offer worth more than £15m.

But palace boss Steve Parish quickly dashed the Germans’ hopes of a deal, demanding an exorbitant fee of £86 million.

This means that Bayern will once again be forced to look elsewhere for a new coach.

And Eagles fans reacted with pure joy after brushing aside interest in their boss.

One declared: “This is hilarious.”

Another exploded: “I’ve heard of ‘fuck you’ prices before. But that? This is special.”

One noted: “It’s funny because Glasner had literally just joined Palace when they first announced Tuchel was going.

“If Bayern had been organized, they could have won it easily.”

Another added: “Can’t blame Palace, they’ve only been there for five minutes.”

Bayern’s relentless search for a new coach

Who is out of the running?

  • Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen)
  • Julian Nagelsmann (Germany)
  • Oliver Glasner (Crystal Palace)
  • Ruben Amorim (Sporting Lisbon)
  • Zinedine Zidane (uncommitted)

Who could take command?

  • Roberto De Zerbi (Brighton)
  • José Mourinho (uncommitted)
  • Antonio Conte (not linked)
  • Maurizio Sarri (Single)

Bayern are quickly running out of viable options after seeing Ruben Amorim declare his loyalty to Sporting Lisbon.

Zinedine Zidane is not interested in taking over.

Although even Man City manager Pep Guardiola was forced to reject talk of a return through his representatives.

That could leave Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi as one of the most likely options after strong links earlier this year.

Bayern could also consider the return of former B team coach Erik ten Hag, who is under enormous pressure at Manchester United.

Elsewhere, José Mourinho is still looking for a new club.

And title-winning Italian trio Antonio Conte, Maurizio Sarri and Stefano Piolo will also be available.

But the bookmakers’ favorite is Hansi Flick, who left Bayern for Germany in 2021 after winning the Treble a year earlier.

He has been out of work since September after a dismal spell in international football, and has also been linked with Chelsea.
