Ratcliffe, 71, came second and is worth just £30 billion in the 2023 list.

However, this year he dropped to fourth place on the overall list.

But he still has a handsome net worth of £23.519 billion.

He saw his company Ineos complete the purchase of a £1.03bn 27.7 per cent stake in Man Utd in February, which saw them take sporting control of the club.

The latest financial estimates have placed the Red Devils as the most valuable football club in the world at £4.9 billion.

Ratcliffe’s plans for the club will take time to come to fruition, with plans to revamp both the team and stadium – possibly featuring a “Wembley of the North” – in the coming years.

His company also owns Ligue 1 club Nice, Swiss club Lausanne-Sport and an incredibly successful cycling team that has won seven Tour de France titles.

Another affiliated part of the Silver Arrows is seven-time F1 world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton.

The 39-year-old has seen his wealth grow to £350 million by 2024, taking him into the top 350 richest Britons.
