Kieran McKenna insisted that his focus is on a “positive future” for Ipswich amidst links with Chelsea football club It is Manchester United.

The manager guided the Suffolk club to consecutive promotions to take them from League One to Premier Leaguereturning to the English top flight for the first time in more than two decades.

His work at Portman Road has led to suggestions that McKenna could be a candidate for the Brighton job, although he is also being considered for the Chelsea job. after the departure of Mauricio Pochettino.

Having been named Manager of the Year by League Officials Association (LMA), the 38-year-old said such speculation is a by-product of his and Ipswich’s success.

But McKenna stressed that he is not focusing on links with other clubs.

“Look, the club has had a very positive season and has a very positive future ahead of it,” McKenna counted Celestial Sports after receiving your LMA award. “We achieved a lot, it was two incredible years. When you have a success like this there’s always speculation and things like that, we saw it all summer.

“But I know how much everyone is looking forward to the season, the club is on a fantastic path and everyone is really looking forward to next season.

“I know that what we have achieved is not normal, so there will always be speculation. But that’s not where my focus is… tonight is about what we’ve achieved over the last few seasons.

“It’s been a wonderful two years, so tonight is about celebrating that. I know everyone is looking forward to next season and I know the club will be in a really good position heading into this season.”
