The Czech Cup final turned mad when fans invaded the pitch at the final whistle.

The clash between Viktoria Plzen and Sparta Prague was overshadowed by the chaos that ensued at the end of the game.

The game, which was played at Viktoria Plzen’s home ground, saw both groups of fans enter the pitch at the end of the game.

What followed was a sad sight for modern football as fans of both clubs began fighting in the middle of the pitch and players were rushed down the tunnel.

The horrific scenes saw aggressive fans punching each other while others jumped on top to join in.

Things took another horrific turn when three camp reporters were attacked on live TV.

The three announcers continued their program with ugly scenes continuing behind them when a chair fell at the feet of one of the presenters.

All three initially seemed unfazed by the flying furniture, but quickly saw their moods change when a second bench hit one of them in the face.

Further back on the pitch, there was heavy police intervention as armed officers could be seen lined up on the playing surface to try and keep the peace.

But groups of fans continued to fight each other.

The match itself was equally chaotic, with the cup changing hands in the embers of the confrontation.

Sparta Prague took the lead in the 79th minute thanks to an own goal, but saw their one-goal lead erased when Viktroria Plzen leveled the scores in the 87th minute.

That turnaround looked like it would force extra time before Sparta hit back with a 91st-minute winner, sealing the league and cup double for the Maroons.

Fans, police and perhaps presenters will be on high alert this weekend as the two sides face off again on Sunday.

The pair face off in the final league game of the season – hopefully it doesn’t spark more shocking scenes.
