West Ham appointed former Real Madrid and Spain manager Julen Lopetegui as their new manager on Thursday following David Moyes’ departure from the London Stadium.
The 57-year-old Spaniard had been unemployed since leaving Wolves on the eve of the recently concluded Premier League season.
Lopetegui will officially begin working with the Hammers on July 1, replacing Moyes following the Scot’s departure at the end of this season.
“We came here with the idea and the thought of making lots and lots of noise,” he said. “That’s why we came here and we’re excited about this challenge.
“Of course we will do our best to help the club and the team reach the best level and achieve our goals.
“I assure the fans that they will be fundamental in all our achievements.”
West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan said Lopetegui’s appointment would “guarantee a strong opportunity to build on the positive progress made over recent seasons”.
The Hammers finished ninth in the Premier League in the 2023/24 season.
