It seems almost confirmed that Erik ten Hag will not be part of Manchester United’s future.

Reports emerged earlier today suggesting the Dutchman would be sacked regardless of beating Manchester City to lift the FA Cup on Saturday.

Consequently, rumors about who the club’s new co-owners Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe will appoint as his successor have been spreading.

Four names in particular have risen to the top of the agenda: Kieran McKenna, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel and Thomas Frank.

Each has its own merits and demerits that will need to be considered before any appointment is made.

Below, we take a look at how the four coaches compare.

In terms of games played, the most experienced in the group is Pochettino with 649 games played.

Former Chelsea manager Tuchel is next with 613 games, with Frank managing 483 games and McKenna giving up something in terms of experience with 131 games.

In terms of win rate, Tuchel marginally comes out on top with 57.26 percent, just 0.01 percent higher than McKenna’s 57.25 percent win rate.

Pochettino then won 48.69 percent of his games, while Frank won 45.13 percent.

One thing Man Utd bosses are judged on is their ability to win trophies.

So, what about the candidates’ respective offices?

How Man Utd could line up under Pochettino

Well, in this aspect, it is a clear winner with Tuchel.

The German won the Champions League, Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup with Chelsea, back-to-back Ligue 1 titles and a French Cup double with Paris Saint-Germain.

He won the Bundesliga in his first season with Bayern Munich and won the German Cup with Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

Despite his list of accolades, his failure to lead Bayern to any silverware this season has raised questions about the 50-year-old’s pedigree.

Pochettino is next on this list, with three PSG trophies.

The 52-year-old took Tottenham to the Champions League final for the first time in his history and they also had Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final this season, losing both.

Both McKenna, 38, and Frank, 50, have yet to lift a trophy.

However, Frank is yet to manage a dominant team, while McKenna’s consecutive promotions from League One to the Premier League with Ipswich more than make up for the lack of trophies.

Another important characteristic of Man Utd’s bosses is their style, so how do each of these bosses like to play?

Tuchel has preferred a 4-2-3-1 formation at Bayern this season, however, we know from his time at Chelsea that he is equally happy to adopt a 3-4-3 formation if that is better. suits his team.

Pochettino and McKenna are both supporters of the 4-2-3-1 formation this Man Utd team is familiar with.

Finally, Frank has also shown his flexibility since joining Brentford, switching between a 4-3-3 and 3-5-2 system.
