ERIK TEN HAG defended himself when asked how he has been treated since arriving at Manchester United.
The Red Devils boss gave a scathing three-word response to a question about the media’s treatment of him this season.
Ten Hag helped his team win the FA Cup with a surprising performance against neighbors Man City at Wembley.
The Dutchman guided United to a 2-1 victory and lifted the historic cup above his head – his second trophy in as many years during his tenure at Man Utd.
Despite his cup success, Ten Hag has struggled to make his team work in the Premier League and Champions League this year and has been the target of much criticism as a result.
But when asked if he thinks the media treatment of him was unfair by Gary Lineker at the BBC, he replied bluntly: “I think so.”
He continued: “For the team, for me too. It wasn’t right.”
However, the 54-year-old player understood some of the criticism he has received, adding: “There wasn’t always good football [this season].
“But we had to make concessions, in two years here, maybe three or four times we had the full team on board.”
United have had injury nightmares all season, with Ten Hag using eight different centre-backs and suffering over 60 separate cases of illness or injury throughout the season.

It was certainly a contributing factor to United’s season that they lost 14 league games and also finished bottom of their Champions League group.
However, there were certainly also tactical issues that contributed to the turbulent season – issues that cast Lt Hag’s future into doubt.
Reports suggest the former Ajax manager could be kicked out of Old Trafford in the coming days despite winning the FA Cup.
And Lt Hag himself said he couldn’t make any promises about whether he would fill the Theater of Dreams bench next season.
When asked if the FA Cup final would potentially be his last game in charge of United, he replied: “I don’t know.”
“The only thing I’m doing is developing my team. This is, for me, a project.
“When I arrived it was a mess, but we are better. But by far we are not where we want to be.
“I want to play the best football, dynamic football, but in the end you have to win games and win trophies.
“We had the opportunity to win one and we won the FA Cup.”
