LUCY BRONZE praised Alexia Putellas’ classy appearance after Barcelona ended their run of Champions League final defeats to Lyon in style.
The midfielder’s late goal secured a 2-0 victory, with new Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor suffering defeat in her last game with Lyon.

And Bronze, who shone in Barça’s defence, became the first English player to triumph in five Women’s Champions League finals, following three victories during her three-year spell at Lyon.
After the game, full-back Lioness told DAZN: “We needed to be a club that really made history.
“It’s difficult to win once, but by doing it consecutively, Lyon showed how difficult it is. This team finally did it.
“We will go down in history as one of the best teams in Europe.”
Barca’s 190th goal from two-time Ballon d’Or winner Putellas sealed a fairytale ending to a season cut short by the midfielder’s knee problems.
His team achieved consecutive trophy wins in the competition for the first time in its history.
Their third victory in four years in the competition’s final saw eight-time winners Lyon suffer their first defeat in seven finals.
Both sides had three shots on target in a tightly contested first half.
Lyon captain Wendi Renard hit the post after 15 minutes and Mariona Caldentey saw her effort deflected over the line 14 minutes later.
Aitana Bonmati opened the scoring with an angled shot deflected by Lyon defender Vanessa Gilles.

And Putellas, who signed a new two-year contract at Barça this week, fired a thunderous finish past goalkeeper Christiane Endler to put the result beyond doubt.
Bronze added: “She is the queen of Barcelona for a reason.
“She had to work really hard to get back into shape. She showed why she is a two-time Ballon d’Or winner.”
