Kieran McKenna is expected to sign a new contract to remain manager of Ipswich Town after leading the club to the Premier League, reports BBC Radio Suffolk.
The 38-year-old was on Chelsea’s shortlist to replace Mauricio Pochettino, and was also linked with a vacancy at Brighton.
It was understood last week that McKenna would reject a new contract on Portman Road.
But after dropping out of the race for the Stamford Bridge job on Sunday, he is set to remain at the club he led to the top flight with back-to-back promotions.
He was named League Managers Association Manager of the Year for his efforts in taking Ipswich back to the Premier League after a 22-year absence.
Ipswich were mid-table in League One when the Northern Irishman left his role as assistant coach of Manchester United’s first team to take charge at Portman Road in December 2021.
The Tractor Boys finished the campaign in 11th place in the table, and their first full season at the club ended with a second place finish and automatic promotion from Division Three.
McKenna then sensationally restored Ipswich to the Premier League, finishing runners-up to Leicester City in the Championship table with 96 points – just one behind the Foxes.
They also finished the campaign as the most prolific team in the division with 92 goals.
