Lamela, 32, made the most of his time in Spain and won the first trophy of his career in 2023.

The Argentine was part of the team that beat Roma in the Europa League final.

The midfielder scored in the penalty shootout as Sevilla beat his former team.

Lamela will be looking for the fifth club of his career after his departure.

He said: “I just have words of thanks to whoever came to share this with me, to the entire Sevilla FC for giving me this small act of recognition.

“Like all goodbyes, it’s a little sad, today I have to speak in front of you at the moment that a player never expects, but I understand as a great professional that this type of moment arrives and that cycles end.

“For me it is important to speak today to be able to express what.

“The way I feel about this club, from the first day I felt at home, they made everything easier for me so that all I could think about was playing football.

“That’s why I want to thank everyone who works behind this, those who strive every day to give us the best.

“I spent three wonderful years at this club in which I take with me thousands of memories, of moments lived and I think that last year, when we were champions of the Europa League, was what made this club enter my heart.

“I will never forget this and I am happy to be able to give back at least a little of what this club gave me. Thank you, I can’t say anything more.

“It’s time to say goodbye, I will always carry you in my heart and I hope that the future allows me to return to my little ones to show them what the club is all about.

“For me it was an honor to wear the Sevilla shirt.

“I was privileged, I always did my best and for me that is the most important thing. Thank you forever.”

Lamela joined Spurs from Roma in 2013 and made 257 appearances for the club, scoring 37 goals.

He left north London with three runners-up finishes, two in the League Cup and one in the Champions League.
