Jose Mourinho is in negotiations with Amazon about participating in their live Champions League coverage next season. The streaming giants have bought the live rights to 17 live Champions League games over the next three years in a deal that gives them first choice of game in each round, with Mourinho set to join a new team of experts .

Mourinho is believed to have been receptive to Amazon’s initial approach, and his final decision will likely depend on whether he takes on another managerial role before the start of next season. The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham manager has been out of work since being sacked by Roma last January and is yet to receive serious job offers beyond Saudi Pro League clubs.

Amazon’s deal gives them first choice of all Tuesday night games in the new Champions League from September, plus the Saturday night final, with Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal the clubs to be shown with more regularity before the first time. qualified Aston Villa.

TNT Sports hold the rights to the remaining 187 games in the competition, having previously held exclusive rights in the UK since 2015.

Amazon has broadcast 20 Premier League games each season since 2019, using a range of experts including Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer and Michael Owen, although that contract expires at the end of next season and has not been renewed.

Joining Mourinho would give Amazon’s coverage more glamor and gravitas, as he has won the competition twice, with FC Porto in 2004 and Inter Milan in 2010. Amazon’s coverage will likely be led by Gabby Logan, who also presented his games in the Premier League.
