RIO Ferdinand wore a bold outfit on TNT Sports’ Champions League final coverage, which echoed the famous outfit of Liverpool’s ‘Spice Boys’ in the 1996 FA Cup final.

The 45-year-old Man Utd legend was a guest at Wembley alongside José Mourinho – with Laura Woods as host.

But immediately, viewers were drawn into the discussion about his bold suit choice.

Perhaps with the weather in mind, Ferdinand donned an elegant cream linen number for the showpiece.

Underneath his blazer, he wore an unbuttoned white shirt as he answered questions from host Woods.

However, fans online couldn’t help but comment on Ferdinand’s two fashionable pieces.

One wrote on X: “Rio Ferdinand reviving the ghost of the Liverpool Spice Boys.”

A second shared: “Rio Ferdinand dressed as NumberTaker.”

A third added: “José seems fine after not working for a bit. Rio looks like the picture of cream linen tailoring.”

While a fourth posted: “Rio Ferdinand looks like a pimp in that white suit.”

The elegant look drew comparisons to a cream Armani suit worn by Liverpool stars before the 1996 FA Cup final.

Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Jamie Redknapp and others were called the ‘Spice Boys’ because of their off-field lifestyle.

The name was coined following unfounded rumors that Fowler was dating Spice Girl, Emma Bunton.

While Jason McAteer and David James took up modeling jobs outside of football, it continued to feed that image, with limited success.

The Reds lost the 1996 cup final to Manchester United after a late goal from Eric Cantona.

Fowler spoke about the famous lawsuit to the Daily Mirror in 2008.

He said: “People still remind me of the white suits all the time. It’s one of those things – if we’d won the game no one would have mentioned it, but we lost and it became infamous.”
