BETA SQUAD were forced to abandon their charity match against AMP after fans stormed the pitch.
The match headed towards a penalty shootout with the score tied at 6-6 in stoppage time.
But as the clock struck 90 fans began to stream onto the playing field at Selhurst Park.
The stewards tried in vain to stop the first pitch invaders, but after witnessing their success, other fans became emboldened and followed suit.
Fans then began pouring onto the field in their hundreds and the game was stopped.
The referees looked helpless as the referee directed the players to the benches.
There were only a few minutes left in stoppage time, but after failing to clear the field, Beta Squad and AMP had no choice but to abandon the match.
Spectators watching from home were uncomfortable with the performance of the fans in the stadium and did not hold back in their criticism.
One said: “The Beta Squad v AMP football match was ruined by fans storming the pitch. It would have ended in a penalty shootout but these kids had to ruin it. Absolute chill.”
Another added: “I actually messed it up man, I wanted to see the penalty shootout. It’s 5am now, I stayed up all night for this.”
A third wrote: “Embarrassing.”
And another commented: “So angry.”
