Vinicius Junior was named Champions League player of the season by UEFA chiefs on Monday after leading Real Madrid to European glory, with team-mate Jude Bellingham picking up the young player award.
Brazilian striker Vinicius scored six goals and provided five assists in Real’s victorious campaign, including his second in the 2-0 final victory over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on Saturday.
The victory meant that Real were crowned European champions for the 15th time, extending their record.
“I’m very happy to be able to win another Champions League with this club, which has given me so much,” said Vinicius, 23 years old.
England midfielder Bellingham has been named Champions League young player of the season following his stunning first campaign with the Spanish giants.
The 20-year-old scored four goals and provided five assists in the Champions League for Real, who also won the La Liga title.
“I can’t put it into words,” he said. “It’s the best night of my life. It has to be up there in terms of a perfect season.”
