European club seasons have ended except for a few northern leagues, and a large group of internationally based U.S. men’s national team players have turned their attention to the summer and the Copa América.

There are also friendlies coming up, starting on Saturday against Colombi dangerous and undefeated for a long timea, but suffice to say we are intensely focused on how the USMNT will do this summer.

And that makes this a great time to revisit our rankings of the best players in the USMNT player pool. The last list, produced at the end of Marchwas heavy in Serie A and accompanied by AC Milan’s Christian Pulisic’s career year.

There will certainly be changes to this list, as Sergino Dest suffered an ACL injury, two Championship strikers took their clubs close to the playoffs, and Giovanni Reyna endured a difficult loan spell at Nottingham Forest. To what extent should any of these things affect his position in our power rankings?

It’s a case-by-case thing. Let us remember the guiding lights.

The rankings are intended to illustrate who would be most likely to positively affect a USMNT match, regardless of club or country coach – sorry Gregg – or teammates, at the time.

Health doesn’t matter for our rankings if a current injury isn’t something that could drastically alter a player’s skill set in the future. In Dest’s case, that matters (even as recovery from ACL injuries seems more certain every day).

Age/potential/experience doesn’t matter either, at least not much; It’s how likely you are to contribute to the team if you’re put on the field now. Obviously, Cavan Sullivan is a better long-term prospect than an older star, but who do you want against Uruguay in the group stage of the Copa América?

Finally, if you’re breaking a tie between players… ask which player you’d be most upset about not being available for a USMNT camp.

Here we go…

  1. Christian Pulisic, AC Milan (1)

  2. Yunus Musah, AC Milan (3)

  3. Antonee Robinson, Fulham (4)

  4. Weston McKennie, Juventus (2)

  5. Tyler Adams, AFC Bournemouth (5)
