JOAO PALHINHA would have agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich.
And the Fulham midfielder is expected to complete a £38m move this week.
Palhinha, 28, looked set to join the German giants last summer for between £60m and £70m.
So much so that the Portuguese would have undergone medical examinations in Germany and even posed for photos with the famous red shirt.
However, the transfer fell through on the final day when Fulham pulled out after being unable to find a replacement.
However, a year later, Bayern rekindled their interest – and at a much lower price.
According to Sky GermanyNegotiations have resumed between the two clubs and are progressing quickly.
Fabricio Romano adds that Palhinha is satisfied with the contract and salary offered and wants to complete the change.
And it is understood that the transfer could be completed in the coming days – before the start of Euro 2024, ironically in Germany.
Palhinha – who was also targeted by Manchester City – is part of Roberto Martinez’s 26-man Portugal squad hoping to repeat their 2016 success.

The Cottagers ace started both of this week’s warm-up friendlies, a 4-2 win over Finland and a 2-1 defeat to Croatia.
Portugal are in Group F, beginning their campaign on June 18 against the Czech Republic, before facing Turkey and Georgia.
Palhinha’s expected arrival at Bayern Munich could see him replace Joshua Kimmich.
The German midfielder has been linked with a move away – with Barcelona, Arsenal and now City interested.
New Bayern coach Vincent Kompany is also willing to let players such as Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, Leon Goretzka, Noussair Mazraoui and De Ligt leave in a big summer clean-up.
Palhinha joined Fulham from Sporting in 2022, scoring eight goals in 79 games for the west Londoners.
He was named the club’s player of the year in his first season and topped the Premier League tackling charts in both campaigns.
Marco Silva has already lost another key player with Tosin Adarabioyo’s contract expiring and the former Manchester City youngster has joined Chelsea as a free agent.
