IAIN STIRLING has found a new twist to the commentator’s “curse” – delivering one on himself.
The Love Island narrator gave a tough self-examination as he came on as a substitute for the beleaguered Rest of the World XI at Soccer Aid.
And with his team beaten by an England XI at Stamford Bridge, the broadcaster did not hesitate in its withering verdict.
“Desperate times call for desperate measures,” said the Scottish comedian, alongside presenter Alex Scott.
He smiled and applauded the fans as he continued – clearly excited.
But Stirling and Co continued to suffer as England claimed a 6-3 victory – their first in the annual charity game for six years.
The 36-year-old wasn’t the only celebrity to be dazzled by the football spotlight.
Cruiserweight fighter and former Love Islander Tommy Fury confused fans by throwing an UNDER-ARM throw.
Tyson Fury’s younger brother threw an aerial kick so hard he could have put a boxing glove between his boot and the ball.
In contrast, manager Steven Bartlett went from Dragons’ Den to a fairytale of his own with two goals for England as a substitute.
