CONCACAF’s qualification process for the 2026 World Cup will appear quite unusual given the three places allocated to hosts Canada, Mexico and the United States for the tournament.

The Hexagonal and Octogonal are no more, replaced by a first round of playoffs and two rounds of group games,

At least three nations will secure spots in the tournament and two remaining teams will receive spots in the inter-confederal playoffs as up to five teams join the Canucks. El Triand Yankees in the 2026 World Cup.


2026 North and Central American World Cup (CONCACAF) Qualification Format

  • First round (22-26 March 2024): Four teams, home and away

  • Second round (June 5, 2024 – June 10, 2025): 30 teams, six groups, top two from each group advance

  • Third round (starts in September 2025): 12 teams, three groups, best team from each group qualifies for the World Cupthe top two teams advance to the inter-confederal playoffs
